My first Outing

I don't remember exactly in which class this happened, my guess is that it might have happened when i was in 4rth grade..

It was a saturday(We wore white dress and white shoes to school) and I decided to go to vamsi house directly from school. I went to his place, spent some time and we both were returning back to my place when suddenly we met Rohit on the way. Rohit said that his house was near by and asked me to drop by. So we went to Rohit's house. Rohit had a collection of toys and we were deeply involved in playing and forgot all about time. Rohit's father came home from work and was suprised to see me still in school uniform. He asked me if i had informed my Parents abt this, to which i sheepishly nodded sideways confirming him a strong NO. He immediately took me and asked me to show him the way so that he could drop me at my place. I was shocked... i didn't understand at that time and kept asking myself "what is the hurry?"
Once i reached home Dad hugged me and asked where i have been. Rohit's father intervened and narrated the whole story. My father then thanked him and took me to the school. I was now wondering "why do i have to go to school at this point of time?". It so happened that my mother was so upset and worried about my DISAPPEARANCE that she went to my school ,made the authorities to check every nook and corner of the school and was crying when they couldn't locate me. All my teachers were ordered by the Principal to stay back and were included in the 'search party'. When i reached school my mother was overjoyed and she thru her arms at me. I was running at her calling aloud "Mummy". It was similar to filmy scene but with a little twist. I was running towards my mother and was abt to hug here when i was slapped hard on the cheek by Ratna Ma'am who was at that time consoling my mother. I cudn't talk. My father explained the whole scenario and apolozised for the inconvenience caused. My mother on the other hand was kissing me. I still couldn't understand the seriousness of the situation but at one time was enjoying the attention that i got.

Everything settled slowly and my parents took me home. The next day i went to school and i think it was the period after Lunch, 'Ayyamma' came into the class and said to Aruna Ma'am(our social studies teacher) that 'Uncle Sir' wanted to see ME. My heart sank at listening to those words.

'Uncle Sir' was none other than our Vice-Principal(name :MR.Sheshagiri Rao). Nobody knows how he got that name but even our teachers use to threaten us saying" if you don't complete the homework i will complain to Uncle Sir and he will take care of you". He was a tall person with a big belly and a harsh loud voice. Students were petrified at the very mention of his name.

I was taken to him. I was literally shivering with fear. He asked me(in his usual high pitched voice)" Where did you go yesterday?". I couldn't speak but gradually picked up courage and muttered "Vamsi". He then called for vamsi and when vamsi came, he ordered for two long ropes. He said to us " I will now tie both of you and hang u upside down till 3 days. Only then u will come to the correct track". We both started crying and begged him for forgiveness. We promised that we wouldn't reapeat this again. It was only then that he left us ,and we were very happy because every student who was summoned by Uncle sir ,atleast got a slap from him as a gift but we somehow did not receive any. We were the first to escape the deadly slap/punch. I felt sorry for Vamsi and thought that he would be angry at me. But Vamsi being a very good frd didnot accuse me even once.

This was my first deadly Outing
